RESOLUTION

   Whereas, more than 79,000 people throughout the State of Ohio voluntarily donate the 475,000 units of blood needed each year in our state; and

   Whereas, the demand for blood is now greater than ever, and Ohio’s blood supply is in constant need of replenishment; and

   Whereas, Ohio needs healthy volunteers to donate blood regularly to help maintain the state’s blood supply and to ensure the health and safety of our citizens; and

   Whereas, donating blood is a simple, safe, and important way for Ohioans to maintain quality health care and help others who are in need.

   Now, Therefore, I, Bob Taft, Governor of the State of Ohio, do hereby designate

VOLUNTEER BLOOD DONOR MONTH JANUARY 2001

and encourage all citizens to donate blood as often as possible and commend donors for giving “the gift of life” to someone in need.

On this 1st day of October, 2000;

Bob Taft
Governor
