State to host surplus property auction
Saturday, Aug. 24 in Columbus

(Columbus)-- The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) will hold a state surplus auction at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at 4200 Surface Road, Columbus.

Bidders must pay with cash or traveler's check on the day of the auction. Among the items for bid will be the following:

  • Assorted tools
  • Compressors
  • 100-gallon gas water heater
  • Hand dryers
  • Computer components
  • Microscope
  • Battery charger
  • Pipe threaders, cutters

Bidders will be permitted to inspect the auction items beginning at 8 a.m. Participants are required to register with a picture ID.

Surplus auctions permit the public to purchase quality goods from state agencies. The state raised more than $2.8 million during the last fiscal year through the sale of property it no longer needs.

DAS, under the leadership of Director Scott Johnson, provides centralized services to state agencies. Its mission is to provide quality service, specialized support and innovative solutions for the effective operation of Ohio government.
