The Human Resources Academy (HRA) advocates for human resource development and promotes life-long learning within Ohio government. The HRA provides targeted learning opportunities to address the needs of supervisors, managers, and human resource professionals within government.

The Purpose of the Human Resources Academy is to:

HRCI Approved Provider!

The HRA program and curriculum has been certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management to award re-certification credits for SHRM/HRCI certifications.

What is HRCI?

The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is the certifying and accrediting body for the GPHR, SPHR and PHR certifications that are affiliated with SHRM and the HRA program.

What is an Approved Provider?

DAS/HRD and the HRA program have been certified by the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) as an HRCI Approved Provider.

All courses within the HRA curriculum have been reviewed and pre-approved to grant re-certification credits toward HRCI certifications (GPHR, SPHR and PHR). Also, other DAS/HRD HR-related training, workshops and conferences (i.e. HR Conference and Benefits Conference) are approved to grant re-certification credits.

Benefits of HRCI Approved-Provider Status

In order to maintain the GPHR, SPHR or PHR certification, individuals must obtain 60 re-certification credit hours every three years after initial certification.  Hours are granted on a contact hour-for-hour basis (i.e. a six-hour training class is worth six re-certification hours).

The benefits of the HRA program obtaining approved-provider status from HRCI is that the entire curriculum (all 18 courses and any additional ones that we add) are approved to provide re-certification credits.

Increased Credibility

DAS/HRD has raised the standard and the credibility of HR training by becoming an HRCI Approved Provider!

This approved-provider status increases the integrity and validity of the program. As a result, the value to state and local government employees in simultaneously increased
