Advancement
You may be able to receive disability benefits while you are appealing
the denial of your workers' compensation claim.
Filing
First, fill out a Disability Agreement (Form ADM 4313). You will then
need to file a copy of the workers' compensation paperwork, all three
copies of the original disability wage agreement and your disability
paperwork with your personnel officer.
If Disability Advancement Is Approved
Disability advancement is subject to the same 14-day waiting period as
disability leave benefits. You will only be able to receive disability
advancement for a maximum of 12 weeks . If your workers' compensation
is approved through an appeal process or by a settlement, you will be
required to pay back all the money that you received from the disability
advancement program.*
* Note: You will be required to pay back the full amount received even if it is more than what you received from BWC.
If your workers' compensation claim is denied, you may be eligible to
continue to receive disability leave benefits. If you are eligible for
disability leave benefits, you will not need to pay back any of the disability
advancement.
