OIT maintains enterprise contracts for research and advisory services with Gartner and NOREX Technology Group. OIT also sponsors Learn It Ohio, an enterprise learning portal providing training and on-the-job support tools that enhance business and technical skills for the state's IT staff. An enterprise membership is available for TechColumbus for IT personnel in all state agencies. Each organization offers particular benefits, as described below.
Gartner. This internationally known company offers state agencies research, review and advisory services on a wide range of timely topics by phone, e-mail or in person. IT personnel can receive expert information and input on specific IT situations, plans, policies or procedures. In addition, OIT hosts a monthly Gartner technology briefing on a variety of topics important to state of Ohio IT professionals. IT personnel across the state are notified by e-mail of upcoming briefings. Most recently the state of Ohio and Gartner have partnered to introduce the Gartner Webinar Widget. From this site you can view upcoming Gartner Webinars with the click of a mouse. Your IT topic suggestions are welcome; e-mail them to Research.Advisory@ohio.gov.
NOREX. A large consortium of IT professionals, NOREX offers coordination of project-specific networking, access to a repository of more than 1,500 IT documents, a weekly WebForum on specific topics, roundtables on key issues, and the Annual Ohio Government Forum. Learn It Ohio. As part of OIT’s ongoing commitment to continuing professional development, state IT staff can participate in a wide variety of courses that can be accessed from the Internet through the use of a desktop computer or mobile device. The program is sponsored by DAS OIT, with the support and encouragement of the Multi-Agency CIO Advisory Council (MAC) and the Ohio Civil Service Employee Association (OCSEA). TechColumbus. This local group provides members-only discounts for Platform Lab IT Testing services as well as for more than 140 professional development and networking events each year. In addition, members have access to TechWeek e-newsletter and can post events and news to that publication. Members can also post job openings, which are distributed to approximately 100 job boards across the country, and search for candidates for open positions.
