About LPD

Learning and Professional Development (LPD) programs are designed to enhance a variety of employee skills at all levels of experience and meet different learning styles. Professional development opportunities and courses for bargaining unit and exempt employees range from classroom training to on-demand, online courses.

As always, there is no cost for state employees to participate in these training opportunities. We encourage you to work with your supervisor to determine the best courses for your work.

OPERS Retirement Education Events – September 30th, 2016

The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) in conjunction with the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) will be offering three (3) Retirement Education Events on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Ohio Department of Transportation, 1980 W. Broad St., Columbus 43223.

These courses are designed to help employees plan for their retirement, whether that time is near or years away. Please feel free to share this announcement and encourage attendance

These events will include: 

How to Select a Retirement Plan - 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Starting your career   
This one-hour presentation educates you on how to select the OPERS retirement plan that helps you achieve your retirement goals. This is an important decision that will impact your financial future. As a new OPERS member you have 180 days from your start date to select one of the three OPERS retirement plans: Traditional Pension, Member-Directed or Co

Education Today for Retirement - 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Tomorrow Throughout your career   

This one-hour presentation is for OPERS members in the Traditional Pension Plan who are more than five years from retirement (Groups B and C). This presentation provides information and resources so you can take an active role in preparing for your retirement and make retirement decisions throughout your career.   

Ready to Retire Pension and Health Care - 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
As you approach retirement   
These two back-to-back, one-hour presentations, are for OPERS members in the Traditional Pension Plan who are who are within five years of retirement eligibility (Groups A and B). During these presentations you will learn about the retirement application process and the tools and resources available to help you with your retirement decisions. You will also learn about important changes to Ohio retirement law and OPERS health care that may impact your retirement benefits. 

To register, go to myOhio.gov, click on Career Resources and select All Learning in the MyLearning ELM drop-down menu. Select Search ELM Catalog from the left side of the screen and search using keyword OPERS.
