The Division strives to achieve its mission by implementing and enforcing the state’s affirmative action and equal employment opportunity policies, and implementing and monitoring the state’s procurement preference programs for minority-owned, women-owned, and socially and economically disadvantaged businesses.

Demystifying Certification

Ever wonder what happens to your certification application after its been submitted? If so, you aren't alone. In fact, "What's the status of my application?" is our most frequently asked question. 

To provide more clarity, we are making the processes for certification into the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE) programs more transparent by posting them online. We hope that by doing so we better explain and prepare you for what to expect after you submit your application.

We also believe that posting this information online helps us advance our mission with integrity. The division exists, in part, to serve, support and find solutions for Ohioans by ensuring equal opportunity to and fair treatment in government contracting. It strives to achieve this mission in a manner that is consistent with the values of due process, fairness, consistency and integrity. Posting our policies and processes should signal our sincere desire to live out these values because it enables you (the public) to hold us (public servants) accountable to them.
